REGISTRATION OF DEATH
REGISTRATION OF DEATH
The first duty is to register the death as soon as possible (within 5 days). In most cases the next-of-kin will attend the Registrar’s Office. The Registrar will require the Medical Certificate of Death together with the Birth and Marriage Certificates if available, or Medical Card.
CREMATED REMAINS - SOME ALTERNATIVES
CREMATED REMAINS - SOME ALTERNATIVES
You may wish to consider what you would do with the ashes after a cremation. One option is to have the ashes scattered at the crematorium in their ‘Garden of Remembrance’. You may like to scatter them at a favourite spot, or at sea. Many people find comfort in having ashes interred in the local church or cemetery, both of whom have special areas set aside. There is no need to make a decision immediately; we will store ashes (free of charge) for however long you need to make your decision.
CERTIFICATES
CERTIFICATES
The Registrar will provide a Certificate for the Funeral Director so that a funeral can take place. We recommend that several copies of the Death Certificate be obtained from the Registrar, as these will be required for any banks, building societies, pension claims, insurance policies and solicitors, if appointed.

We have a selection of memorials and stone plaques at our Memorial Showrooms and can discuss styles and lettering. Costs depend upon the inscription, fixing options and guidelines, as well as the fees set by the burial authority.
